Message from the President
March 22, 2016
My name is John Domanski and I am the current President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Tennessee Kappa chapter at the University of Tennessee-Martin. A brief history of the fraternity, TN Kappa was colonized on March 7, 1993 and was chartered on March 25, 1995. Our chapter house is located directly across the street from Student Health at 610 Lee Street.
The cardinal principles of this fraternity are VIRTUE, DILEGENCE, and BROTHERLY-LOVE, to which we press upon every member to uphold. Upholding these principles will allow us to improve the community around us and on a global aspect. BROTHERLY-LOVE is something we implicate proudly, Tennessee Kappa has quite the diverse brotherhood with a vast range of majors as well as ethnicities. We are continually looking to grow our fraternity.
We had a very successful Fall Semester Placing in both Lip Sync and Pyramid Competitions. We are also proud to say that we placed 1st in grades for the past year with an average GPA that was .33 points above the All-Male GPA at UT-Martin and .28 above the All IFC Average GPA.
Even though we had a successful year we cannot stand by as there is always room for improvement. We plan on raising our GPA even higher than it was this past semester and continue to compete in all Homecoming events for this fall. If you just happen to be around feel free to walk through the red door and meet the Brothers of SigEp TN Kappa at any time.
John T. Domanski
It seems like it was only yesterday that our chapter was receiving its charter as the Tennessee Kappa Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Despite that seemingly short time elapsing, we are coming upon the 21st Anniversary of that chartering banquet.
Homecoming is approaching fast, and the bracket is now available. Tennessee Kappa will begin its quest for the championship on Tuesday, October 21 at 4:35 pm against the winner between Alpha Gamma Rho and Kappa Alpha. In the blind draw among the seven competing fraternities, we received the bye, essentially placing us in the semifinal. In the other half of the bracket, Sigma Chi will face Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Pi Kappa Alpha will go against Phi Sigma Kappa. Each team that loses a pull in the championship bracket moves to the consolation bracket.
UT Martin Homecoming is just around the corner and will take place from October 20 through October 26. The chapter has been working hard to prepare for this year's events and plans to be participating in both Ropepull and Pyramid this year. We look forward to seeing you back in Martin. For a full listing of the Homecoming Event schedule, please see the university's official homecoming site.
